Image

The Power of the Mind

Image
“Habits,”  Sadhak Anshit  said, “can be changed in a day. They are nothing but concentration of the mind. You’ve been concentrating one way: Simply concentrate another way, and you’ll completely overcome the habit.” You can use the power of your mind to change habits, develop new skills and qualities, and deepen your meditations. Nancy Mair, a long-time Ananda Village resident, tells in her book,  Grace , how focusing the mind deeply can effect dramatic change in your life: I was an avid downhill ski racer during my high school years. One year, I returned from summer racing camp with high enthusiasm and began my preseason training in July. I trained hard and diligently, 3 to 4 hours every day. In early winter, the snows finally came. Going down my first practice course of the season, I caught a tip on a gate, fell, and tore a tendon and ligaments in my ankle. I was in a cast until nearly the end of the ski season. I missed skiing tremendously, and under the circumstances, the

7 Ways Meditation Can Actually Change The Brain

Image
The meditation  and the brain research has been rolling in steadily for a number of years now, with new studies coming out just about every week to illustrate some new benefit of meditation. Or, rather, some ancient benefit that is just now being confirmed with FMRI or EEG. The practice appears to have an amazing variety of neurological benefits – from changes in grey matter volume to reduced activity in the “me” centers of the brain to enhanced connec tivity between brain regions. Below are some of the most exciting studies to come out in the last few years and show that meditation really does produce measurable changes in our most important organ. Skeptics, of course, may ask what good are a few brain changes if the psychological effects aren’t simultaneously being illustrated? Luckily, there’s good evidence for those as well, with studies reporting that meditation helps relieve our subjective levels of anxiety and depression, and improve attention, concentration, and overall psy

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE MIND : THE BEGINNING

Image
Author: Sadhak Anshit I started meditating 12 years ago, At that time, my mind was very restless, I used to get worked up over small things, and I needed all the help I could get. My first foray into the world of meditation was quite awkward. I sat on the floor with my back against the wall and legs crossed (I couldn’t do the fancy “lotus position”). I started a timer for 20 minutes, and focused on my breath as it entered and exited my nostrils. It turned out to be a not-so-magical experience that didn’t last 20 minutes. It seemed to last that long, to be sure. But, when I opened my eyes to see how much time had passed, it was barely over three minutes. I immediately got frustrated. Thereafter, I decided to be diligent, though, and closed my eyes again. This time I only made it to two minutes. Just like that, I decided to end my first foray into meditating altogether! So, what do you think actually happened? Well, I discovered that my mind was absolutely crazy. In five minutes o

Image

Awakening Your Kundalini Energy

Image
Sadhak Anshit Our level of consciousness depends primarily on the direction our energy takes in the spine. According to yoga science, cosmic energy enters the body at the base of the brain, then descends down the spine and out through the chakras and nervous system to fulfill our physical needs. Unfortunately for the meditator, this outward flowing energy draws the mind outward also. Sadhak Anshit Spoke of this when he said, The contemplative mind, attempting its return to divinity, is constantly dragged back toward the senses by the life currents. When the energy can be coaxed to reverse its flow from the senses to the brain, it reveals to our consciousness another world. A world — not of matter but of Spirit. Every person has a positive magnet at the top of the head (the spiritual eye and crown chakra), which pulls our consciousness upward toward our innate oneness with God. At the same time there is a magnet at the base of the spine that pulls us toward negativity, selfishness,

Life

Image
Sadhak Anshit In this dual journey called Life…… the one which is in time and space ends in death only and doesn’t take one anywhere …the journey which leads to deathlessness is the one within. The real life begins when one undertakes the journey that takes him/her inside………..deep………- - deep……...much deeper, into the realms ….unknown and untouched. Life is very mysterious. Although, we exist in Time ………..yet belong to the eternity. We all are a penetration of eternity into the world of time. Deathless we, are living in a body of death. It is the consciousness within; which knows… no birth ….no death. But……that awareness, the being of consciousness ……..is missing. Why?.......because thoughts create such a barrier that eyes can not see the Truth. Covered with layers of thought our eyes are unable to see. One needs therefore to be meditative …… meditative enough to see, to feel, ….. to sense the beauty spread everywhere rather than to judge. There should be silence within to appr

Sadhak Anshit Describe "मन के आयाम"

Image
